Two things define budget gorilla trekking, the first is spending less and second is getting value for the money you spent. There isn't a need to spend more on a package you would have spent less on. Budget gorilla trekking is often confused with cheap gorilla trekking. These two are completely different terms. Trekking mountain gorillas on a budget often lets you enjoy a certain level of comfort whereas going cheap means settling for the cheapest facilities whilst on your safari. These services and facilities might range from vehicles, accommodation, services along the way and many more. We have vast experience and expertise in organizing budget gorilla tours in Uganda, Rwanda and Congo. Our cost reduction measures are very effective. We use standard mid-range accommodation facilities for all our trips on full board basis (breakfast, lunch and dinner). These lodges are our partners and offer us their services at discounted confidential rates. These are the same rates we quote for you, we do not charge the rack rates. All our safaris are run in air conditioned safari vehicles to ensure comfort throughout your expedition. Let us organize for you a stunning budget safari today. As you plan for your budget gorilla tour, the choice of the country you are going to trek from matters a lot. A country like Rwanda will still make you spend more because of their high permit prices. Congo has only luxury accommodation facilities but the cheapest permits so far. Please see detailed comparison below.
Budget gorilla tracking in Congo, Uganda and Rwanda
Rwanda doesn’t favor budget gorilla trips in any way. Their gorilla permits cost $1500 all year round. If you add on other facilities and services, the total price of your tour will land somewhere between $2000 to $2200. The permit fees alone can book you a mid-range gorilla safari in Uganda and leave you with some pocket change. If you prefer to go gorilla trekking in Rwanda, you can opt for budget safari lodges to further cut down your costs.
Congo has the cheapest gorilla permits so far. They cost only $450 all year round. The only disadvantage comes in terms of accommodation as all their lodges are luxury. Somehow you will spend less on permits but end up compensating for that price on booking your stay.
Uganda is undoubtedly the best place to carry out your budget gorilla tours from. Permits only cost $600 all year round for trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. There are so many accommodation facilities around the park that you can choose from. These range from budget to luxury. Over half the remaining population of mountain gorillas reside in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, making it the best place to see gorillas in Africa.
Wrapping it up, all these gorillas are the same except that Congo has two species – Mountain Gorillas and Lowland Gorillas. Besides that, the gorillas you will see in Virunga National Park, Volcanoes National Park, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park are the same.
