Ban on India lifted
Ban on India lifted : Uganda has lifted the travel ban on India travelers about 4 months after it was imposed. This announcement was made by the minister of health, Doctor Ruth Acheng while addressing a news conference at the ministry of health headquarters on Friday last week.

The minister announced that India had been placed under category 2 countries form category 1, which means that travelers from India will now be allowed into the country as long as they have negative covid-19 PCR test results done 72 hours before arrival in Uganda; though they will still be subjected to a mandatory PCR test upon arrival irrespective of their vaccination status.
As she announced this the minister clarified that the categorization of countries is on the basis of the covid-19 variants of concern in the different countries, the covid-19 status in the country including the rate of transmission, number of sick, number of dead and vaccination levels in the specific country. The minister started that it was on this same basis that India was categorized in category 1 in April and in category 2 now.
This announcement now leaves Uganda with category 2 countries that include the United Kingdom, the United States of America, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, Kenya, Tanzania, South Africa and now India. This means Uganda no longer has countries in category 1.
Uganda has just come out of a second lockdown after a record in a slight decrease in the rate disease of transmission. The country is continuing to observe all the covid-19 SOPs and is currently having mass vaccinations for essential workers including tour operators in a bid to manage the covid-19 situation in the country.
