Mount Sabinyo,is located in Rwanda ,the name is derived  from the Kinyarwanda word ‘Iryinyo” which means ‘tooth’, it’s an extinct of volcano in East Africa in the Virunga Mountains .


Mount Sabinyo is in north-East of Lake Kivu, it’s one of the African Great Lakes, west of Lake Bunyonyi in Uganda.

The mountains are at an elevation of 3,669 metres, this marks the intersection of the borders of Democratic Republican of the Congo, Uganda and Rwanda.

The mountain is within the national parks establishment by the three countries, Virunga National Park which is in DRC, Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park in Uganda.

Mount Sabyinyo   is a habitat for the endangered mountain Gorillas. Mount Sabinyo carries its local nickname “old man’s Teeth” which means worn out teeth in a gum line

There are a number of activities to encounter at Mount Sabinyo these include


Hike the mount Sabyinyo, however one needs to be physically fit to hike the mountain rain can rain anytime and the path will seam muddy, you’re provided with a hiking stick. Prepare the hiking boots; Bushy areas are grassy patches, fresh air. The path is steeper, as one reaches the mountain base; it takes 2 hours and 30 of walking bamboo replaced by high, ghostly trees. The weather is clear and allows you to see Congolese and also enjoy the Switzerland of Africa. On Mount Sabyinyo you will see Uganda, green area and wilds. You will realize that you are in three countries at once.
