Rwanda: Guidelines for Travellers During the Chogm Season : Rwanda is honoured to be hosting the 2022 commonwealth heads of government meeting this June 2022 in the country’s capital Kigali. It’s been a long time and the country together with other commonwealth states will converge in Kigali City for this pivotal and prestigious event.

Amidst this, the world is still battling COVID-19, though we have come a long way from the lockdowns, the virus and disease is still within us and quite dangerous. In light of this the government of Rwanda for Rwanda Safaris issued a number of travel guidelines for persons who will visit the country this June for both CHOGM and other activities. The guidelines are meant to support the COVID-19 preventive measures – for continued prevention of the spread of the COVID-19 disease as they also easy the arrival and departure interactions for passengers at the Kigali International airport.
If you are planning to travel to Rwanda in June you should be aware of these guidelines.

The guidelines therefore are:-

ARRIVAL | Rapid Antigen COVID-19 tests for all CHOGM participants, to be done at specified testing centres at no charge. You should know that this test is mandatory and the CHOGM badges will not function without the results.
The testing centres are: – the CHOGM accreditation centre located at BK Arena and at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Marriot Hotel, Park inn, Serena Hotel and Millie Collines Hotel. | Additional COVID-19 Tests will not be required at the airport.
However National parks and some places in the country may require COVID-19 test results for tests done at the point of entry.
COVID-19 testing is available at health facilities and other designated sites for 5 US dollars for rapid antigen tests and 50 US dollars for PCR tests. Rwanda Nationals are will have PCR tests done at 30 US dollars. |

DEPARTURE | Unless your final destination requires COVID-19 test results, Rwanda doesn’t require you to have a COVID-19 test done before travelling out of the country by air. COVID-19 testing will be available for all those whose final destination requires one.
