Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Drive to Tarangire national park – full day game drive
Depending on your location in Arusha, start your day very early and transfer to Tarangire national park, which is about 3 hours’ drive in the northern part of Tanzania. Tarangire national park is known for having large herds of elephants as well as ancient baobab trees. You will check in at your lodge in Tarangire national park as you prepare for lunch and also an afternoon game drive. During your game drive in the national park, you will search for wildlife species such as gazelles, impalas, zebras, waterbucks among others as well as the various bird species, which this national park is known for. You will enjoy watching the sunset in the wilderness of the national park. Thereafter, transfer to your booked lodge in Karatu. Day 2: Explore Lake Manyara national park on a game drive and canopy walk
Breakfast will be served at your lodge, connect to Lake Manyara national park for yet another thrilling game drive. You will have a game drive to search for wildlife species in this national park such as tree climbing lions, elephants, gazelles, buffalos, hippos, antelopes, waterbucks, hartebeests, warthogs, hyenas, giraffes, elands, impalas among others. You will also see various bird species during your game drive in Lake Manyara national park. Later afternoon, enjoy a canopy walk experience. You will return to your lodge for dinner and overnight after your game drive at lodge as above
Day 3: Transfer to Serengeti National park
After breakfast, check-out and transfer to Serengeti national park. It’s about 5-6 hours’ drive with en-route stop at the Lake Manyara and Ngorongoro viewpoints then to the Olduvai gorge, which is an archaeological site where evidence of early man relating to human evolution was discovered by Dr. Mary and Louis Leakey. Proceed to Serengeti national park with en-route panic lunch break. Proceed to your lodge with en-route game drive in the open savannah plains. Day 4: Full day game drives in Serengeti national park
Have early breakfast, get parked lunch and go for a full day game drive we start from far North around the Mara river in case you came on the opposite month when the migration will start from Serengeti after missing it from Mara Kenya side now this will be you turn to enjoy the best. Spend the whole day looking for these animals like Hippos, Elephants, Buffalos, Giraffes, Lions, Hyenas, Cheetahs, Antelopes, Hartebeest, zebras mention but a few. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight at lodge above
Day 5: Another day game drive in Serengeti national park
After breakfast, explore more to Serengeti national park. This is the largest in Africa not explored in just a day. Serengeti national park has all kinds of wildlife and most spotted animals include; the big five like lions, leopards, buffalos, rhinos, and elephants. You will also see other wildlife and bird species, which include Wildebeest, waterbucks, antelopes, zebras, kudus, hippos, buffalos among others. Visit the retina hippo pool where you can see many hippos swimming in a pool. You will also see different predators in the savannah of this national park especially sitting on top of rock kopjes. Start your game drives early and end late evening with return to the lodges to relax, dinner and overnight stay as above.
Day 6: Transfer to Ngorongoro Conservation area – Visit the Masai Boma cultural tour
After breakfast, check-out and transfer back to Ngorongoro conservation area. It’s about 1 hours’ drive. Connect to visit the Masai Bomas of Ngorongoro, learn and enjoy the culture of the Masai people. Enjoy En-route viewpoint of the crater and game drive in the Ngorongoro area. Day 7: Ngorongoro Crater Drive, Crater Rim Walk
Breakfast will be served at your lodge as you prepare for your transfer to Ngorongoro conservation area where you will descend into the crater and you will visit Lake Magadi, which is found in the center of the crater. You will engage in a game drive and search for various wildlife species such as elephants, rhinos, buffalos, lions, leopards, cheetahs, wildebeests, zebras as well as flamingos along the shores of Lake Magadi. You will enjoy a walking safari in the conservancy, and after proceed to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay as above.
Day 8: Transfer to Arusha and Fly to Zanzibar
Enjoy breakfast, transfer to Arusha airport with your packed lunch to catch your flight to Zanzibar. Flights with Flight Link Tanzania operate daily flights from Arusha to Zanzibar. Depart with the 13:00 hours’ option and arrive in Zanzibar at 14:15 hours. Upon arrival, you will meet your driver and transfer to your booked hotel for check-in, relaxation, dinner and overnight stay at Zanzibar Beach Resort
Day 9: Zanzibar city tour – Prison Island and spice tour and Stone town
You will have breakfast at your hotel and after this, you will start your day’s activities. You will take a private boat from Stone town to Changuu Island or Prison Island where you will enjoy seeing the Giant tortoises and during your tour of the Island you will also enjoy snorkeling. You will take a boat back from Changuu Island back to Stone town. On this day, you will also engage in a spice tour as you explore the plantations where you will see different exotic spices and also get to know the uses of the spices like cloves, cinnamon, and nutmeg among others. After the spice tour, you will return to your hotel, relax and spend the night at hotel as above
Day 10: Safari Blue Experience and Zanzibar beach experience
You will enjoy the best boat tour on the island is which is a truly amazing experience sailing in the beautiful traditional Dhows. You will enjoy a boat ride, enjoy delicious buffet and drinks, fresh tropical fruits and snacks. You will have a day to relax at the white sand beaches of Zanzibar Island and enjoy views of the Indian Ocean. Dinner and overnight stay as above
