17 Days Grand Uganda Safari Overview

This package is best for clients who want to spend over two weeks in Uganda. The safari highlights most of the awesome safari destinations in Uganda.

Day 1: Airport arrival

Upon arrival for your 17 days Uganda safari, you will have an Airport meeting with our guide after which he will transfer to your hotel in Entebbe for either lunch or dinner. Lake Victoria Serena Hotel (L) OR Entebbe Central Inn (B)

Day 2: of 17 Days Uganda safari; Ngamba Islands

After having breakfast, you’ll go for a transfer to Lake Victoria for a cruise to Ngamba Island which will take about an hour. Briefing will be done at the chimpanzee sanctuary about it and you will be given some time with the chimps as they feed. Later in the afternoon, you will transfer back to the pier and return to Entebbe where your guide will be waiting for you. Then visit the Uganda Wildlife Education Center since your permit to the Islands guarantees you an entry to the center. Dinner and overnight stay at Cassia Lodge (L) OR Ministers Village Hotel (B)

Day 3 of 17 Days Uganda safari: Kampala City tour

After breakfast, you will dedicate this day for a Kampala City tour. By many tourists, the Kampala is known as “The City of Seven Hills”. You will visit exciting places like Kasubi tombs (burial grounds for Kabakas), Baha’i temple, Namugongo martyrs shrine where 22 Christians were brutally murdered by burning in 1886, the two old cathedrals of Rubaga and Namirembe, Makerere University, Uganda Museum, and crafts market in National Theatre. Day 4: Transfer to Murchison falls

After a morning breakfast, you will be rewarded by a fantastic drive to Murchison falls National Park via the famous Luwero triangle and Budongo forest on the western arm of the Great Rift Valley. This journey offers you great sceneries that are eye catching as you reach the park in the afternoon.

Upon arrival, a drive to the top of the falls is taken for the beautiful view of the perfect calm Nile that forces its way through the narrow gorge to fall to a distance of about 150ft down and hence producing a thunderous roar of the white water which makes a beautiful scenery. It is from here that you will transfer to board a ferry to Paraa Safari Lodge (L) or Red Chili Campsite (B) for dinner and an overnight is done.

Day 5: Game drive and Victoria Nile cruise

This is the day for your Uganda wildlife safaris experience. You will have breakfast and then head for a game drive before dawn to get to see the predators and the early risers such as the jackals, hyenas, giraffe, lion, elephant, antelope, elephant, Uganda Kob among others. Get some rest from the Game drive at your lodge as you wait for Lunch.

Have lunch and in the afternoon, you will head for the Victoria Nile lunch cruise that will take you to the bottom of the falls where you will find animals like the hippos, buffaloes, elephants, crocodiles and variety of water birds like, the rare shoebill, fish eagles, among many more. Dinner and an overnight at Paraa Safari Lodge (L) or Red Chili Campsite (B)

Day 6: Transfer to Kibale National Park

Have a morning breakfast and then transfer to Kibale National Park where you will reach in the evening. En route you will have lunch in Hoima town and you will pass by different local homesteads, tea, banana and sorghum plantations. Dinner and the overnight can be at either Ndali Lodge (L) Chimpanzee Guest House (B)

Day 7: Chimpanzee tracking and Bigodi sanctuary trail

After breakfast, you will set out for a guided chimpanzee search in the forest which will enable you view primates like mangabeys, colobus monkeys, baboons, bush babies, among many more. The ranger guide will make the walk informative and interesting on both the flora and fauna. Lunch break and then in the afternoon a walk to the Bigodi sanctuary for plenty of bird species plus the rare flora and fauna. Dinner and the overnight can be at either Ndali Lodge (L) Chimpanzee Guest House (B)

Day 8: Transfer to Semuliki National Park and night game drive in the park

Before dawn, have breakfast and depart from Kibale for Semuliki National Park through the eastern Albertine area. Semuliki National Park located in the basin of the western rift valley is one of the parks endowed with many habitats ranging from rain forests, Riparian forests to short and high grass savannah.

Night game drives are also common in the park that reward you with nocturnal animals like the white tailed mangoose and the slender mangoose, the standard and pennant winged nightjars, cats, hyenas, leopards, among others. This park offers surprises because you can never tell what to find and it is also the only park in Uganda that offers a spot lit night drive. Dinner and overnight at Semuliki Safari Lodge (L) or Kanyankyu Ecological site (B).

Day 9: Dusk or dawn chimp tracking and birding

After breakfast, you head down to the beautiful gallery rain-forest for wild chimpanzee tracking which is usually done at dusk or dawn because apes normally disappear during day. A number of bird species are also found in this picturesque forest. After the chimp search, you may relax at the pool or go for a game drive as you watch the sun dip. Dinner and overnight at Semuliki Safari Lodge (L) or Kanyankyu Ecological site (B).

Day 10: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

You will transfer to Queen Elizabeth National park after breakfast. You will follow the mystical Rwenzori Mt. Ranges and the journey offers you game vision and game like the king of the jungle “the lion”, leopard, hyena, elephant, and buffalo among others. It is in the afternoon that you’ll reach and have lunch then go for a boat trip on Kazinga channel where you will be able to see Hippos, water birds, buffaloes, among others. Dinner and overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge (L) Simba Safari Camp (B)

Day 11: Dawn game drive through the park

Take an early game drive that is before dawn to get to see the early risers and predators returning to their hide outs. Game like, lions, leopard, hyenas, jackals, bushbucks, bush pigs among others can be spotted at this time. A lunch break will be taken at the lodge and in the afternoon you’ll go for chimp tracking in the Kyambura gorge OR Kalinzu area. You will also be able to see other primates like the colobus monkeys, baboons, among others. Dinner and overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge (L) Simba Safari Camp (B)

Day 12: Game drive and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After breakfast, head for game drive on your 17 days Uganda safari as you transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park through the Ishasha sector offering you with game views specifically the tree climbing lions. You’ll reach Bwindi in the late afternoon and after checking in at the lodge, you may take a community walk for a welcome entertainment. Dinner and overnight at Gorilla Resort (L) Buhoma community Bandas (B).

Day 13: Gorilla trekking

Have breakfast and transfer to park headquarters for briefing about gorilla trekking in Uganda and at around 9:00am, you will set off for the gorilla search. The search time for these apes is unpredictable but normally ranges between 2-9 hours depending on their movement.

This activity takes you through the steep rocks climbing up and down making it tiresome but in an adventurous way. However, after encountering these humble giant primates, the memories of how tough it was to get to them are erased. Dinner and overnight at Gorilla Resort (L) Buhoma community Bandas (B).

Day 14: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

After breakfast, you will drive to Lake Bunyonyi via Kabale a region popularly known as the ‘Switzerland of Africa’ by many tourists on this 17 Days Uganda safari. En-route you will be taken by the scenery of winding road, hills and valleys, terraced landscape. It is a beautiful spot with small islands and ringed with steep terraces. It’s also a famous bird sanctuary with various bird species small and big from which the lake was named. Dinner and overnight at Lake Bunyonyi Overland camp (B) Arcadia Cottages (L).

Day 15: Canoe exploration on the lake

Canoe ride on Lake Bunyonyi for an exploration of the birds and the overall area. Dinner and overnight at Lake Bunyonyi Overland camp (B) Arcadia Cottages (L).

Day 16: Drive to Lake Mburo National Park

Have breakfast and after drive off to Lake Mburo National Park which is famous for harboring a number of antelopes including the impala from which the capital city’s name Kampala came. You will also go through the finest sceneries to reach Lake Mburo NP where you will have lunch from and then go for an afternoon canoe ride on the Lake to search for animals at the lake shores. Dinner and overnight at Mihingo Lodge (L) Rwonyo camp (B).

Day 17: Final day of 17 Days Uganda safari; Transfer back to Kampala or Departure

A drive back to Kampala after breakfast where you will have a brief stop at the equator for photo shoots and hand crafts. You will then reach Kampala in the afternoon, have lunch and take a rest at your hotel. Dinner and overnight at Cassia Lodge (L) OR Ministers Village Hotel (B) OR You will be transferred to the Airport for your departure flight back home marking the end of this 17 Days Uganda safari.
