5 Days Primates Safari Overview

This 5 days safari package highlights primate experiences in Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary and Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park.

Day 1: Arrival Entebbe and Visit Ngamba

Our representative will meet you at Entebbe airport and transfer to the peer in Entebbe where you will take a boat to Ngamba Island (this requires a morning flight)! While at the Island, you will visit the chimpanzees, have lunch and encounter lots of bird life. You will return by boat in the evening and transfer to the hotel for dinner and overnight at Protea Hotel Entebbe Resort.

Day 2: Transfer to Kisoro

Enjoy breakfast and make an early start on your long journey to Kisoro with a stopover at the equator for photography if you please and another stopover in Mbarara town for lunch. Proceed with a lucrative journey southwestwards driving past Kabale, Ecuya forest and arrive Kisoro in the evening. Proceed to Lake Mutanda Resort.

Day 3: Gorilla Tracking – Rushaga Sector

Certainly one of the most exciting days of your safari; today you will be gorilla tracking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. Breakfast will be served early and lunch will be packed. The briefing is at 7 am. Your guide will give you highlights of specific details about the way of life of the gorillas you will be tracking. The hike can take anything from one to seven hours.

Trekking through the steep, densely forested hills and then finally coming across the gorillas camouflaged in the vegetation is an inspiring and privileged moment. Once you reach the gorillas, you are allowed to spend one hour with them as you stand 6 meters away. Upon completion of this magical encounter, you will drive you back to the lodge where you can relax in the afternoon or go for another walk to visit one of the communities around.

Day 4: Second Gorilla Tracking – Nkuringo Sector

Today we enjoy a second day of gorilla trekking in a different location, setting out once more to the briefing point after an early breakfast. Once the gorillas are located, our small group will be allowed a maximum of one hour with them. Gorilla trekking is one of the world’s truly memorable wildlife experiences – a look into one of these magnificent creature’s eyes brings home the bond that exists between them and us. The hour is often over all too quickly, and we slowly make our way back to our lodge to recount the day’s adventures.

Day 5: Kigali and departure.

Depart the lodge and say goodbye to Uganda heading for Kigali International airport. Depending on your flight departure time, you will take some time off to visit the genocide memorial centre before you depart Rwanda. The driver will drop you off at the airport well in time for your check in.
