What to expect on a mountain gorilla group safari? Well with the festive season around the corner, there are many opportunities for you to enjoy the wild with family and friends on one of those mountain gorilla group safaris that may you have always been waiting for or something you want to experience for the first time. Well in this article we share some things that you should expect on a mountain gorilla group safari. These are usually things you will experience because you are doing this in a group setting and not as an individual.

1. First you will have to book your mountain gorilla trekking permits in a group so that all of you are allocated in the same trekking group. Remember you have to trek as 8 people per a group, so if you are more than that you may have to split your group into two or more.
2. You will also need to have accommodation booked in a group, usually you can book hotel rooms, cottages, airbnbs, or even camping arrangements that can accommodate as many people as you are. Remember accommodation for a group is different for an individual so expect to share space or prepare to be accommodative of others.
3. On the day of mountain gorilla trekking, you will be up early having breakfast and after you will head to the park headquarters for a brief; this will be at 7 am and after the brief you will head into the park for your trekking experience.
4. The beauty with being in the group, you will be entering the wild and seeing the gorillas with the people you know and like, compared to the scenarios when you go for the experience alone and you are grouped with people you don’t know.
5. You will enter the forest and while in the forest you will trek about 5 to 6 hours before you get to the forest, and then when you meet the gorillas you will spend an hour in their presence enjoying them as you observe them.
6. After the hour you will descend the forest and then meet back at the park headquarters for a debrief and certificates.
7. You will then have the fun group meal, where you will have a delicious group meal together before you retire for the day.
8. The next day you will have group activities that include but not limited to: – community experiences, where you will visit the different local communities and engage in different activities like singing dancing, meal preparing, crop harvesting and many more things.

   

9. You will also have nature walks, mountain climbing sprees, cycling experiences and view sightings where you will enjoy breath taking views of the surroundings in the region you are having you are having you experience from.
10. Because you are in a group, expect some conflict amongst yourselves but most of all, as the saying goes the more the merrier, you should expect to have a lot of fun on the mountain gorilla trek with your friends.
