Attractions around Fort Portal : Fortportal is located in western Uganda in Kabarole district and Toro kingdom, fort portal is known as the tourism city and it was named for portal after sir Gerald portal who was a special commissioner for Uganda. And the attractions in forportal include the following.

Amabere ganyina mwiru.

They are located near Nyakasura falls these are geographical formations. The name Amabere Ga Nyina mwiru translates to Breasts of Nyinamwiru who is believed to be the daughter of the local usurper king had her breasts removed in an attempt to make herself less attractive to suitors, when the plan failed the king of Bukuku of Toro then hid her in the cave, howe ever she still became pregnant to the Batembuzi king Isaza who later gave birth to their son Ndahura, she was un able to nurse the baby herself, she turned to what seemed to be milk flowing from the current stalactites, milky due to their calcium concentration.

Semliki national park

Semliki national park is slightly different from other national parks, though it does not have much wild animals though there are some including buffaloes, leopards, primates like baboons’ monkeys, other attractions at Semliki there is a village for pygmies and the hot springs best known for having hot water coming from the wide hole and it is the largest of its kind in Uganda and it is one of the major attractions.

Chimpanzee

The are primates second to gorillas in Uganda they are found in kibale national park and the are the major attractions found in kibale national where you will get a chance to truck them and interact with them.

Tooro palace

Toro is one of the four traditional kingdoms of Uganda that was abolished in 1967. Tooro palace is one of the places you should miss out on visiting when you’re in fortportal.

Tooro Botanical Gardens

These gardens have a lot of well signed indigenous plants and trees, as well as an organic farming project growing herbs, natural dyes and medical plants.

Karambi Royal Tomb

This is a tomb where the kings of Tooro kingdom are buried, when you visit it the you will be taken through and see different things like the house where they are buried, and other personal effects of several of the Tooro kings, and the cemetery outside is for other royal family members.

Mpanga tea estate growers are public limited company that grows and produces tea on a very large scale for both local and international market. While at Mpanga tourists are given bikes to have a cycling tour around these beautiful estates and view the tea well at your own pace where you go through rails as you view land scape and get to know different types of tea grown, visitors are always given a chance to participate in tea activities like pruning while interacting with the local people who are the growers of the tea.
